SAN ANTONIO - Matthew "Tony" Manning has been named by San Antonio ISD as the new head football coach at Brackenridge high school.

Manning has been an assistant coach at Roosevelt for the past 10 seasons and prior to that he was the offensive coordinator at University high school for six seasons.

“I’m just humbled and blessed to serve in this role,” Manning said in a press release Friday. “I am grateful for the leadership of the district and Brackenridge High School who have entrusted me to build upon a proud program with a deep legacy of success."

Manning says he is eager to meet the Eagle athletes and get down to work immediately. He also has a message for Brackenridge football fans: get your popcorn ready.

"You will see an explosive offense that is going to put a lot of points on the board,” The new head coach said. “But it’s an offense grounded in toughness. We are going to run the ball and throw the ball. I’m ready to identify what it is that our team will do best, and we will put a product on the field that the Brackenridge community will be proud of."
