Forecast by Chief Meteorologist Chris Suchan
HEAT ADVISORY FOR MUCH OF AREA TODAY. HEAT WARNING AGAIN FOR SOUTHERN HALF OF THE AREA OR SOUTH OF BEXAR COUNTY
Earlier showers and a couple thunderstorms in and around the I-35 corridor into our eastern zone counties have moved on. Skies are turning mostly sunny and temperatures are heating up. That said, chances to stay below 100 and snap the streak are very much in play with highs likely in the mid to upper 90s by 6pm. Humidity levels will make it feel like it's 100 - 106. As for rain chances, at this point it looks unlikely after the earlier activity and lack of strong heating. Plus, sinking air is underway behind weak disturbance.
Those out for Spurs draft night parties will enjoy a more typical late June evening. Friday starts with clouds then turns partly sunny. Temperatures again may fall just shy of 100 degrees but it'll be close. By the weekend and into next week, the big heat dome ridge moves over the state and pumps temperatures back to where we've seen them with basically sunny to mostly sunny skies each day. One change we may see, lower humidity levels develop for "dry heat" late afternoons to early evening next week.
No rain chance in the pattern ahead. We'll start looking toward early July for any signs of a change in the pattern.
