SAN ANTONIO - A small family-owned restaurant all started due to the joy of cooking Thai food for communities.

Co-owner, Janthanee Khiewyoi shares that her family moved to San Antonio 17 years ago from Thailand. She says that ever since she can remember, her mother was always cooking.

"Whenever I was in school, I would always bring my lunch that my mom cooked," shared Khiewyoi. "I would have some of my friends try them and they loved it, so I always had a dream that one day we will have our own restaurant - and here we are."

The owners are from Southern Thailand and like to specify that their food can be a little different than the traditional. They like to differentiate themselves by adding spice levels that traditional Thai restaurants may not have. So if you are one that can handle the spice, feel free to ask for something a little extra spicy!

Thai Buri has been open for two years and has received a 100 health inspection score since then.

"Cleanliness is something that will gain the customer's trust. Good food and cleanliness are the majority of what you need to consider when you're in the restaurant industry." says Khiewyoi.

When Janthanee says 'good food,' she isn't lying! The family recipes from Thai Buri will have you falling in love with the flavor and coming back for seconds.

The local favorites are many on the menu. First, the appetizer Pyramid Spring Rolls are a must-try! They are fried and have potatoes, taro, carrots, shitake mushroom, and peas served with homemade Thai sweet chili sauce.

The Panang Curry is one of their best sellers with homemade panang curry sauce; Light&savory, imported premium coconut milk from Thailand with bell peppers, basil leaves, and lime leaves to infuse flavors and comes medium towards hot for spice. You can also choose any protein of choice.

Another is Ki Mow Spaghetti or Drunken Spaghetti which is a Thai-western fusion dish that is super popular in Thailand. Their Ki mow Spaghetti is stir-fried organic spaghetti noodles with garlic, snowpeas, carrots, yellow onions, bell peppers & basil leaves in our Thai drunken recipe.

One of their newer items, but also delicious, is a healthier version of Pad Thai that's made with green papaya, beansprout, green onions, and crushed peanut in our Pad Thai recipe.

There are also great drinks to choose from as well like the classic iced Nom Yen with Milk (almost like strawberry milk), Butterfly Pea Tea with lemonade and honey, and the classic Thai iced tea with milk.
