San Antonio man murdered in 2021 after late-night food run; police seek suspect in dark SUV

SAN ANTONIO - Police need your help to find the suspect who murdered a man who was just out to get something to eat back in October on the West Side.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. on Oct. 21, 2021 on SW 36th Street between Castroville Road and US Hwy 90 W.

Police said Frank Mello, 47, was driving back from getting something to eat when a dark colored SUV stopped in front of his Ford F-150, forcing him to stop. The suspect then fired several times at the victim before driving off.

Mello was able to drive back home and call for help. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He passed away on Dec. 9.
